My Definition of Success
I googled the definition of success and this is what came up. If you asked most people to describe what a successful person looks like, they would probably say this person would have a huge house, cars, luxury clothes, and plenty of money. Maybe this successful person is a CEO, with plenty of influence on others. Maybe they started their own business and it's flourishing.
I disagree with all these definitions. I believe a successful person is a happy one. You aren’t successful unless you are excited about your day the moment you wake up. You aren’t successful until you find a job that doesn’t feel like work. You aren’t successful unless you are surrounded by people who love and care about you. You aren’t successful unless the people you are with the most say you are truly a good person, who cares for them and treats people with respect.
You could be a dishwasher at a restaurant, but in my eyes, if you are happy, surrounded by people you love and love you back, and you are respected by your peers, then you are successful.
I strive to be excited about the work I do. I strive to have deep conversations with people every day. I strive to be true to who I am and accomplish my own goals, no matter what other people think of them.
Do I believe I’m successful now? Maybe not yet, but I know I’m on my way there. I learn more about myself every day and what I truly want in life. I will never stop trying until I find my true happiness.
